Rocky Mountaineers Monthly Meeting Featuring Cedron Jones

Cedron Jones loves lists, data and climbing mountains.  He is an obsessive-compulsive peakbagger.  He has climbed just over 1200 peaks in Montana, including the 340 peaks over 10,000 feet, but he’s still working on the peaks with 3,000 feet of prominence (three more to go) and the mountain range highpoints (four more to go).

Jones published a hiking guide to the area around Helena, Montana, in 2008.  In addition to hiking and peakbagging he loves working with kids, bird-watching and dancing.  He lives in Helena with his wife, Sara Toubman.

In this presentation,  Jones will first explain some basic concepts, such as what is a peak, what is prominence, and how are mountain ranges defined.  He will then show slides from recent ascents of a diverse selection of Montana peaks.  Questions from the audience will be encouraged throughout.

At The Trail Head Downtown.
