Journey through the Himalaya: An evening of Indian food, culture and crafts

Missoula, Montana - OnFriday, April 3rd, 5:30pm - 9:00pm at Zootown Brew, 121 West Broadway, join the
Nature-Link Institute for this onetime event. You will be transported to the Himalaya through food,
presentations of culture, and crafts. A full Indian dinner will be provided by Theo Smith the proprietor of
Missoula’s very own Masala. Dinner will be accompanied by a presentation from the Nature-Link Institute on
culture and crafts of the high Himalaya. Following dinner there will be a presentation by John Roskelley,
legendary Himalayan mountaineer and recipient of the Golden Ice Axe Lifetime Achievement Award—one of
only six people to ever receive such an honor. Handmade rugs and photographs of Himalayan culture will be
available for purchase. All proceeds go directly to help Himalayan women develop traditional handicrafts as a
livelihood option.
Event: 5:30pm - Meet and Greet, 6:00pm - Curry Dinner, 6:30pm - Cultural Presentations by Nature-Link
Institute and Indian Himalaya Representative, 7:30pm - Door Open to General Public, 8:00pm - John
Roskelley Presentation, 9:00pm - Conclusion.

About Nature-Link Istitute: The Nature-Link Institute was founded in 2006 with the mission of
“Reconnecting people to the environment through research, education and advocacy.” Nature-Link Institute
fulfills its mission both at home and abroad. Nature-Link Institute provides educational experiences for
university students in the Himalaya and has developed the Mountain to Mountain Initiative that reconnects
Himalayan people with their environment through sustainable livelihoods. Part of the Mountain to Mountain
Initiative involves Gear for the Garhwal, a gear drive here in Missoula that provides outdoor equipment and
clothing for guides in the Himalaya. Our newest initiative focuses on helping Himalayan women develop their
traditional handicrafts for an international market.
