John Roskelley Presentation

Missoula, Montana- On Wednesday, February 6th, at 7pm at the University Center Theater on
the University of Montana Campus, Nature-Link Institute in conjunction with UM Outdoor Pro-
gram will host a presentation by renowned mountaineer and author, John Roskelley. This special
presentation is part of the UM Outdoor Programs 2013 lecture series. John Roskelley will recount
his many climbing expeditions throughout the high Himalaya, but will concentrate his lecture on
“Nanda Devi: The Tragic Expedition.”

After begging his father to let him enroll into the Spokane Mountaineers
climbing course John became one of the best climbers in the U.S. at that time. Some say maybe
even the world. His climbing expeditions have been across the globe but some of his greatest
climbing accomplishments have been located in the high Himalaya, most notably India, Nepal and
Pakistan. In 2003 John and his son Jess, a University of Montana student at the time, climbed
Everest and became part of a select few father-son duos to summit Everest. His accomplishments
and even his failures have influenced him to author multiple books including Nanda Devi, Last
Days and Stories Off the Wall which have been combined into The Roskelley Collection.
