Sure we’ve had a skiff here and there but last night was the first significant  snowfall on the valley.  We know that it won’t last (down low) but there is always something about that first snow that gets to us. My favorite is going outside at night with a new blanket of snow and experiencing the quiet it pulls down over the city. That coupled with the soft glow of town reflected off the snow back up to the clouds.

It would be hard for me to live somewhere with only one or two seasons, I really enjoy the switch of seasons. Like when spring moves into somewhere, you’re getting a little tired of the spring rain and want to wear shorts and float the river. The same is true for the end of fall, leaves are raked the trees bare and our thought tend toward the slopes and the backcountry.

Now while we wait for the snow to accumulate in the higher elevations it’s a good time to take stock of your gear. Or come down and drool over the new ski gear for this season. There are some really cool new binding options out this year. With Dynafit’s patent running out there a few new kids on the block that have a lot of promise. Not to mention Dynafit’s new addition to the line the Radical binding should create a little buzz. Don’t forget skis, the new line of Black Diamond is very innovative and early test runs on them were good.

Everybody do a little snow dance, the season’s almost here. You can keep tabs on your favorite resort here and come on down and ogle the new toys, we’d love to help you find your new addition to the quiver.
