Let’s be honest Most Nordic racers are pretty fastidious about taking care of skis, wax, base finish, and general condition of the skis can make a huge difference in how a ski performs, and serious racers want and need every edge they can get. Trouble is most races do not have a 24,000 stone grinding machine in the garage to keep skis in top condition. What a Nordic race tune does is take a worn and worked over ski, completely refinish the base of the ski and repair any damage. After the ski has been stone ground to create the structure required for a fast ski the base is totally dry and devoid of any impregnated wax, remember we just ground it all off. The key part of a Nordic race tune is the repeated 6-10 hot wax scrape and buff jobs we do to re soak wax into the base of the skis to give them that lighting fast finish that gets the results racers are looking for.
