Hot Enough For Ya?

As I open the newspaper and hunt for the weather page to see what’s in store for the week, I long for the Missoula summers we had 30 years ago. It’s not that I dislike heat or summer but it’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day. I guess that’s the beauty of living in a state with four legitimate seasons. Right when you start to get sick of one season the next is cued up.

Spring this year was so rainy and cool I remember wanting sun and some heat, now after a cool day last week I’m looking forward to fall, the season that I look forward to for hiking and photography. I remember visiting family in Sacramento during the summer and enduring weeks of 110º heat, okay maybe this is too whiny but as a coworker quipped, “this is Montana, not Florida!”

Even though fall is probably my favorite season visually, my son and I have been sneaking ski movies into the DVD player. This season’s first issue of Powder magazine has arrived and made an appearance in the bathroom. So maybe I’m not ready for down wear just yet, but it will be here before we know it.  Until then, just keep hitting snooze!
